Woods visually compatible with mahogany?
A friend loaded up some extra restaurant redecoration mahogany left to be chipped into mulch at a recycle center. There was enough to make a media cabinet & screen stand, and I still have enough to make an end table. I'd like to make the end table with an inserted parquet top using two different types of wood cut into rectangles to get a basket weave look (basically, parquet surrounded by mahogany). The parquet will be a bit more than one square foot of the top. I do not want the pattern to jump out, I like subtle. Can any of you suggest fine grained woods that might be compatible with the mahogany end table? WJPowers
