Since it's softwood and the pieces are pretty small, may just get a 1.5 inch thick board of any width and cut the size you need out with a hand saw or whatever you have.
I had couple scraps pieces laying around I glued together and will cut it to the size I need and try it out. Just was hoping to find some that size so I didn't have to mess with it.
It is not out of my way at all ... I go right past it every day on my way to work, so if you want, I would be happy to stop there and pick up some pieces for you and put them in the mail.
Home Depot stocks a 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" poplar blank 3' long that looks like it has relatively square edges.
