Where to get free plans?????
The internet is great and I have been able to find a lot of help using it. I am trying to find plans for a porch glider and have spent the last hour searching and getting stuck in downloads having nothing to do with plans and give up. I know it must be out there, but sorting through all the garbage to find them has worn me out. Can anyone direct me to a source for "real" free plans? Thanks in advance.

Not much out there as you found out, this page may help:
http://www.woodworkcity.com/2008/06/...ing-plans/amp/
They have a link to paid plans for less than $7.00, might be worth checking that out as well.
For what it is is worth I can't personally vouch for these.

You are correct - there is a lot of "garbage" on line on any subject! There also are wood magazines (at book stores) that often make up an outdoor project issue, which may be the way to go. Be safe.

I like to make my own plans with sketchup.
I'm not great with printed plans. I'll generally get an idea in my head, maybe make a few sketches usually on scrap paper or sometimes wood and kind of wing it.. I've bought plans, but almost always I modify it so it rarely resembles the printed or online plans so it ends up more customized..
I have ideas for a porch swing based on an existing swing we have hanging from the pergola in the back yard.. It's a very simple design and could easily be modified to be a glider.
Have you checked Pinterest or craftsmanspace?
http://www.craftsmanspace.com/free-p...ies-plans.html
I've modified quite a few plans I've found from there.. Quite often it only takes a friendly email to a site owner and many are more than happy to share ideas and plans.
Also check out tool crib, http://www.toolcrib.com/blog/2009/06...rocking-chairs
Good luck 🍀

I figured it's time to change my signature so hold your breath. This is it.
Impressive, huh?

If you can't find it on the internet, I suggest going to a library. I've went onto my county library website and requested multiple woodworking books to be sent to my local branch.
Here's a web archive of ~200 back issues of Wood magazine; may be worth a search to see if there's anything there you can use.

Ana-white.com I use her site all the time
Anyone know why I can't open the Wood Magazine link? I get the tab but an empty page. Have had this happen on a couple of other websites. Suggestions are welcome.

Try this link Pneknot

I had the same problem as you with the other link.

I don't know why the Wood Magazine archive link I posted isn't working. It works on 3 computers that I tried here. All Macs, so maybe that makes a difference?
Here's the actual URL: http://www.survivorlibrary.com/?page_id=1409
Copy & paste that into your browser address bar, maybe it'll work?

*edit*
When I click the link now, I can go to the page. However, it only works 50% of the time. Server issue?

I'm surprised this thread hasn't caught the attention of our plans spamer.
