buddies, need your perspectives to identify this piece of wood again. looks like exotic wood but not sure what species.

Looks like teak to me. Does it feel like it has a light coat of wax on the wood? That would be a characteristic of teak.

tewitt1949 .... It is relatively easy to carve with a chisel so I guess that would qualify it as soft. But as a block of timber it felt quite solid.
