Wet stone grinding?

I sharpen my chisels, axes, and plane irons on an 8" bench grinder and hone them on oil stone. This has worked for me up to now. But some have suggested that I should buy a wet grinder for better results, since it saves the blade's temper. Also, a 6" wheel would be better for hollow grinding than my 8" wheel.

Please advise whether I should invest in a 6" wet grinder? Thank you.

You won't be able to do anything with the wet grinder you can't do with your oil stones however it will make the job quicker and easier with the wet grinder.

Thanks! That's what I think too. Besides, I can buy a dozen new chisels for the price of a single wet-dry bench grinder.

Steve's right = It won't make you 10X better at what you do now. Go easy, go slow, don't overheat the metal to cook the temper out of the edge. Reads that you get good results, as is.
