Wall mounting question

Hey everyone. I have a 8'x8'x 10" thick wood sign I am designing. It weighs around 950lbs. I was hoping someone on here might have experience mounting something this large. I was hoping to mount using metal pins so I can "float" the sign 2" or so off of the wall. Does anyone know of a company that sells this kind of hardware? Or any system that I should research? We're having an arch. Design the that it will attach. Just need to figure out best way to connect.

What sort of wall?

I would consult a structural engineer before hanging something that heavy on any wall.

Are you making this sign yourself? Or just designing and having a sign company make it. If the later then let them do the whole job as they have the equipment and knowledge.

Even if you are making it yourself I would probably hire a professional to hang.

There are too many unknows about the sign and wall to answer your hanging question. More information needed.

Do you have a sketch of what you are building? I'm thinking along the lines of fabricating french cleats out of steel.

8' X 8' is a wall all its own. You did not say if this an indoor sign or for outside? Either way, I think a sign this heavy will need special consideration. 8x8 is a small billboard, so I'm guessing this will go outside on a commercial building.
If that's the case, I would weld up a metal frame to attach to the building and attach the sign to the metal frame. A 2" metal frame will give you the 2" stand-off from the wall you want. This frame does not need to be a continuous frame, but could be made in 2' sections to cover the 4 corners and 2 in the center, giving you 6 points to attach the sign.
