You must have attended the wood show! I went two of the three days in Tampa Florida. I loved it (and spent too much money).

The contest was something our woodworking club was doing (though it is not our original idea, of course. It's been done by various clubs for at least several years now.). Our club member who coordinated the contest went around and approached several Home Depots and Lowes in hopes of getting one of them to sponsor our contest by supplying prizes.

Well, the one Home Depot's manager said something to the effect of "Oh, man, I've been looking for a way to get our store more involved in the community. This is right up our alley." They jumped on the request and ended up supplying a total of 7 prizes packages, a free 2X4 for each member who wanted one to do their project, 7 judges for the contest (they came to our meeting on their own personal time to do it) AND the exposure for our club in their store. They went above and beyond for us and we are quite appreciative to them.


Cool. I'd love to see that.

I once did a 7 link chain out of pressure treated 4X4.



Then I started a 23 link chain in an 8 foot 6x6. One day I'll get back to it...
