Tapered sliding dovetail table top

Ok need some help here. I'm making a table and I want to have a tapered sliding dovetail batten underneath. The idea here is no glue and to allow wood movement and at the same time help keep the top flat.
Never done this before. TablebTop is inch and a quarter thick and 46 inches wide. Battens are part of the leg and are almost full width of table. They are inch and a quarter thick at width and 4 inches wide. I think I need to use power tools for this. Any advise would be appreciated.

Not sure I understand s the terms we’ll enough to picture what is going on. Sounds like table to would have a dove tail groove running parallel to the ends. The apron would have a dove tail on top edge to slide into this groove, not glued. Then there could be an L bracket in the center of the apron to hold the top in place so the whole top does not slide to the side. I would think you could glue the side boards on after the apron was slid in place to hide the grove in the top.

One concern would to be to not make the neck of the dove tail too narrow as they would carry the weight of the apron and legs if lifted by the top. The center L brackets would help some.

Not sure if this is what you were describing or not, but I tried!
