spindle moulder sleeve
hi guys,
is there such a thing called a spindle moulder sleeve? we have just got a new spindle moulder and the spindle is
30mm but our existing cutters are 31mm and are not tight to the spindle can we get an adapter approx. six inches long as we use 5 cutters with spacers for finger jointing on boxes. or do we have to buy a new set
thanks
kev.

All you need is the diameter of the spindle and the height of the collar you need.

sorry i don't mean the ring inserts for the surface I mean for example the bore of the cutterblock is 31mm and the spindle diameter is 30mm.

Oh, that is very different. The 31mm spindle seems be an odd size to me. Is it a new machine or antique? What is a standard spindle size today is 25.4mm and 31.75mm. There is an adapter you could just purchase for these two sizes. It wouldn't be possible to even have a machinist make one for a 1mm difference. The only solution I can see is to have a machinist enlarge the bore large enough an adapter can be made to fit the 31mm spindle. The problem is you would have to have every cutter you acquire machined to fit the adapter.
Any chance of swapping the old spindle with the new?

Sleeve bushings are available, but that is an odd size. I would contact the manufacturer of you new shaper for support.
