Southern-Tool.com review

I bought a Jet jointer from them on the Jet black friday sale. They charged my credit card but no jointer. I emailed them last week and again today (two different email addresses) with no response from either one. I figured the jointer was coming directly from Jet but needed to know approx when as I was leaving town tomorrow. I will not buy from them again as I don't buy from companies that won't respond. Some people will say, you should call them- if they don't want emails they shouldn't have email addresses for one. Second most of the business done today is done over the computer.

BTW the jointer arrived today

The worst possible way to contact any company when looking for a quick answer is to use email. If you really needed to get a quick answer you should have called them. I think that Southern Tool/Jet did a fantastic job of getting your order to you within 7 business days from the day you ordered it.

Email is still great for transferring large flies such as .pdf's, but it is no longer the standard for general communication now that everyone seems to be using portable devices.

I will see or hear, "Check your email, I just sent you a large file," otherwise I am texting or talking directly on the phone.

I tend to agree with @littleboss, in that these days customer service is priority 1 for any customer facing company. Pretty much every company I've dealt with is phone and/or email as primary communication. If I'm not in crisis, I'm content to send an email and wait a day for a response. If no response after a couple days, I'll call. On that call, I will often explain that I'd sent an email and never received a response, and hopefully they'll make a note to improve their process. I'm a forgiving person; not a "Karen" or whatever the male version is. There are a lot of small businesses/startups that are trying hard, and sometimes things slip through the cracks.

I had to Google "Karen", LOL.

But SWMBO isn't named Karen.

I had no complaints about Jet, just Southern Tool and still no answer to either email.

Not even a server message saying, "Mail box does not accept incoming."

Boss, I think they should have returned your email but on the other hand it would be hard for me to complain too much after getting the jointer as fast as you did.

I like email

I'll be a contrarian voice here, I prefer email to other forms of communication. I can read faster than you can talk. I like it for writing too as I have time to compose my thoughts. When I speak I tend to ramble incoherently like a manic kanye west...when I'm writing I can tone that down a bit.

It's a bummer they didn't respond =\

After working for a company that was an early service offering for E-Mail it is sad how E-Mail has fallen into the realm of SPAMers. What was an exceptional form or rapid communication is now mostly junque.

It can be worse. A company can leak your email address to spammers.
