Source for West Indian Satinwood
I am new to this forum. I work in furniture conservation; and we will be restoring a set of dining room furniture for a historic house museum. The wood has been identified as West Indian Satinwood (Zanthoxylum flavum). I am looking for a source for this wood. I have found only suppliers of the East Indian Satinwood online. We need both solid (to be carved, does not need to be figured) and veneer (figured).
For the solid pieces – a maximum of 1 1/2 inches thick (but could probably get away with 1 1/4”) with a maximum length of 48 inches and maximum width of 6 inches.
For the veneer – a maximum length of 42 inches and a maximum width of 3 inches.
Any leads on a good source would be much appreciated!! Thanks, Talitha
