Simple box design

Gentlemen,

I am looking for a very simple box design to use as a cub scout craft. This would be for a district level event, so I would need to cut about 100 of them.

I am attaching a picture of one that I built quickly as a model and looking for either tips to improve it, or a better idea entirely.

Keep in mind that these will be built with a minimum of tools (think nothing but hammers) by 5-12 year old boys.

All input is welcomed and appreciated.

one idea

Here's some pics of one that I did with my den years ago. There were only 12 kids, so I'm not sure how well it would scale up. We used through dovetails, but box joints would be simpler. I cut up all the wood before the meeting and all the boys had to do was apply the hide glue (longer opentime) and hammer it together. The lid is hinged on a 1/8" brass rod tapped into drilled holes. The bottom is lauan ply captured in a dado. Sorry this took so long to reply, but I had a hard time finding the box in an 18yr olds bedroom.
