Sick over my miss

Walked around the plant today and just missed them cutting up a 8x10 pallet they used to ship us a machine. They were 4x8x10 ft. long. Not treated but pine and bolted not nailed. There would have been enough to make a nice farm table. I guess I'll do more walking around from now on.

Any suggestions on the 4-5 footers left?

Consider asking the "guy in charge" of disposing of the shipping material to save you some of the lumber, BEFORE they cut it up. They usually never get requests to save anything, and rarely IMO offer to recycle. As for the 4-5 footers - maybe a small end table or book/storage cases. Be safe.

Just a word of caution. I've used pallet wood before - industrial stuff like what you missed. Dont assume it's dry. I was given a dozen large pallets that were used to deliver a large boiler. 3.5" x 10" and red oak. I was pretty excited when I planed the face off the first piece...until I stuck a moister meter in it...47%. Ugh. So, they sit outside the shop for a couple years (no room inside).

4-5's would be great for a coffee table.
