Shellac on a Breadboard Edge
I'm applying a french polish on a mahogany secretary desk. The drop-front is about 14" wide with a Breadboard edge. I'm starting to wonder, though, as the wood moves with the seasons, won't the shellac crack along the edge where the grain changes directions?
I'm considering scoring the finish with a knife along the edge so the shellac can move. Anyone have any experience with this?
FYI, since assembling the lid in the summer, the lid has shrunk about 1/8".
