Seamless unions on natural pieces of wood

Maybe a better question is how do I form an as close to seamless union between two natural pieces of wood. It seems likes its a matter of the angle you make the cut on the smaller piece but you have to factor in the natural unevenness of the larger piece of wood. The how to is beyond meme.

Set them side by side how you want them joined. Flip one on top of the other, like turning the page of a book. Band saw both pieces at the same time. Open them back up and your seam should match.

That bowl was perfect right up until that last cut...
