rubber bumper feet for cutting boards- group buy

I am need of some rubber bumper feet for my cutting boards. I found a supplier that can sell me 1440 bumpers for $165.03. That is about $.12 per bumper. I don't think I can ever use 1440 of them though. So would anybody like to go in with me on this? I would like to try and get 4-5 people to reduce the price to about $40 each and still get a couple 100 bumpers. Here is the link to the bumpers that I have been looking at:
http://bumperspecialties.com/bs17-box-p-64.html

Please send me a message if you are interested.

Now I know some of you who make cutting boards say not to use feet, this way both sides of the boards can be used. I agree, but I have customers requesting them, so I need to have them available.

I cannot help with the group buy. I do not use many, and my size needs vary.

Lee Valley has some screw on ones of similar size for about $0.23 if you buy 10 sheets with 18 bumpers per sheet.

I buy mine from hardware and tools.com. A set of 4 is $1.20 . You must buy in a minimum of six sets. When I did my last cutting boards I bought enough to get free shipping so I don't currently need any.
Tom

PS they are item number 9131 and 7/8" in diameter
Edited to add item number

Sorry, I can't help with the group buy either, because we need a very particular size. I do, however, want to THANK YOU for the website link!! I was having a devil of a time finding bumpers that have enough height on them and was elated to find this website. I will be eternally grateful! Good luck to you!

we buy our screw on type for $0.73 from
National Hardware N225-367, pack of 4. includes screws.

that comes to .18 ea.

i would be concerned with the adhesive longevity on wood with oil (or whatever protective finish you apply).

without feet we've found that our boards tend to warp, esp if they sit on a countertop with any moisture underneath, which in my opinion outweighs any reversibility convenience.

Can you provide their web site. When I search National Hardware several stores come up.

Here's the source I use and can get them in smaller quantities.

How about these if you only need a few? I use them on my cutting boards. In spite of the fact that they are called "rubber" bumpers, they are really made from a polymer.

The screws are steel so you will want to buy some stainless steel screw or else you will see a lot to rust.

Yesterday I bought some non skid feet for the bottom of a couple of cutting boards. These are the black screw on one similar to the Rockler ones above. These are plastic and intended for chair legs.

I got either 1/2" or 3/4" ones. They are available from Home Depot. I can't remember the price but 2 packages of 4 were much less than ten bucks with tax.

Use the right tool for the job.

I use the 3/4 ones, that I get from HD or the Blue store. Can't remember the price, I will check and see what they are vs your price plus shipping. Hope to get back to you ASAP

You can buy smaller sheets from the website as well, that way it's a little less complicated than doing group buys and sending them out to everyone who participated. Here is a link for single sheets: http://www.bumperspecialties.com/bs1...heet-p-62.html

Howie,

Since screwing in bumpers is an extra step, you should try this company's polyurethane bumpers http://www.bumperspecialties.com/bs17-box-p-64.html (they are available in smaller quantities as well)

I know some people are afraid of adhesive backed ones and feel that the screw in's are more secure, but these rubber bumpers can be ordered with extra aggressive acrylic adhesive. I've used these bumpers and put them through my dishwasher regularly and they still stick. Here is the adhesive info http://www.bumperspecialties.com/tec...dhesiveNew.pdf

Might be worth looking into and can save you time!
