Quick Sunday project

My wife wanted and needed a new desk to set up a place to work on the computer. My plan was to build a filing cabinet and set of drawers with a desk top and upper shelf. Before I could get started we were able to score a set of Cherry filing cabinet. This made my job a lot easier not that I did not want to build them there is just never enough time in the day. So today I decided to build the desktop to get things started since we got the filing cabinets yesterday. A couple hours later and this is what I was able to put together. The front edge will get stained to match the cabinets once I build the upper shelf.

I ended up using a couple pieces of 3/4 mdf with solid oak trim. I picked up a piece of laminate from Menards and there is the top
