pricing custom closets
Looking to give an estimate on building some custom closets for someone. I am no good at giving estimates on something I haven't done yet. Anyone have a guestimate
for this ($/ft).?

I am always shocked by the price.
I would draw it up and price the materials. Some add a percentage to the materials cost. Others figure the hours and multiply by your price per hour. You may take a loss on the first job. Or you make more money than you thought if it goes well.
Around here I figure my time it should take. Multiply by 3 and add 10%.
There always seems to be something that interrupts my progress.

George,
That is way too expensive. I would do it for $5,263.24.
I have a question to add. I have a car I want to sell. How much should I sell it for?

I'm pricing a custom closet right now also. But, you might want to give us a little more info. There are so many variables to consider when pricing a closet. How many shelves, drawers, rods, etc. Possibly you could post a picture of what you are thinking?

I saw a thumb rule given in a different forum regarding builtins. It was something like $170 per linear foot for basic cabinets and x amount extra if it had a lot of molding. If j were pricing cabinets, that's a good starting point. I just thought there might be someone here with something similar for closet systems. Obviously it is dependent on the complexity, wood species, etc. What the person wants is pretty much open shelves, no drawers or doors. So it will be birch ply with poplar trim.

I think that 215 dinars would be a better price for the car.
