Question Pressing shapes into soft wood..need some advice

Hi All,

Long time lurker- first time poster. I'm seeking some advice on a project i'm trying to push from the ideation stage to the testing stage. Does anyone know of any examples where a mass-produced item is pressed from wood rather than cut or formed via complex processes?

The size/complexity of items i'm looking to press would be similar to a key or one of those stoppers for a to-go coffee cup.

For wood, I thought balsa would make the most sense- but i'm sure there's others that could work. If pressed and heat is applied, would these soft woods hold their shape?

Any thoughts?

Thank you!

are there any existing similar examples on the net that you can grab a photo of ??
your question is very vague without something to see.
can cast resin be an option ??

the below photo is embossed alder plywood, steamed and pressed
under tons of pressure and die cut - - - with a machine that probably
costs into the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
and yes, the pressed items hold their shape indefinitely, when done properly.

there are businesses in China that can build the die for a set up charge
then the cost of copies is by hundred or thousand.
is that what you are inquiring about ?
