Painting small recessions

Hey everyone

I'm working on a project that is basically creating a two tone image with a cnc router on wood.

My problem is with figuring out how to paint the inside of the "holes". Is there a product that temporarily fills in the holes that could later be removed after painting the surface?

This image is just an example of a two tone image not my project. My idea is to use the cnc to router out the black areas in the picture thus making them a recession in the wood. How would you all make let's say the recessions black while making the flat foreground white.

I was thinking something like painting it black, filling the recessions with for lack of a better word "wax or glue" painting the foreground white then removing the wax or glue.

Just want to throw it out and see if anyone has any ideas.

Thanks,
Drew

They make a clear plastic low adhesive film( forget what it's called) that purpose is just that. Comes in different sized rolls. You paint for base color, let fully dry, apply film, then cnc, paint your second color then remove film. Sign makers use it, just can't think of proper name.

Thank you sounds like exactly what I need. If anyone has a brand they prefer would love to hear it.

Thank you again!
