P002/Step Stool: Setback
well, i guess no matter how much i prepare and lay out the pieces and which side goes where, it doesn't really matter if i glue it and fail to read 'right' and 'left' before assembling and realize my error and try to take it apart and...
i hammered home the dowels and flipped the piece around to realize i had set the left side to the right of the stool. for a split second i thought i'd leave it, but i hand-drilled the holes matching each side and i knew the other side would be off. i took a block of wood and started tapping the pieces apart and it came off... in two pieces. other side went on fine and is setting. so bummed. i just spent a crapload of time sanding that piece -- especially the curve -- as i figured it'd be hard to do after i assembled.
i think i'll glue it back together (since i've already drilled matching holes to the middle piece), and use it as a template to drill the holes in the new piece. it'll go way faster except i'll have to match the angle of the legs. bummer.
