Okay, this did not feel good. Electric drill went almost all the way through my thumb. I now get weird pains on my thumb tip and wrist. I must have hit the nerve.

Whew, good gravy, that hurts just looking at it.

Ow!!! I've shot myself with a brad nail, but never drilled myself. That looks painful for sure. Good luck with that Vern!

I managed to put a screw into my finger once. Just barely broke the skin, but still hurt like hell. Couldn't imagine a drill bit going through my finger. That's gotta hurt.

So that we may learn from your mistake, how'd you do it?

Your screwed:icon_smile: Sorry couldn't help myself.

I'd go get it looked at just to make sure you didn't damage anything longterm.

Hope that gets better soon. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Oh man that must hurt.

Do you mind sharing some details how it happened? Kind of good to learn from someone else's misfortune.

This is how

I was drilling in the end of a board with my left hand supporting it. The bit slipped and my thumb was in its way.

I told my wife that Iím always very careful around power tools that look like they could be very dangerous but itís the simple tools that people take for granted, thinking they are safe, that hurts us.

Dayum, that sucks.I did the exact same thing using a 1 3/8's frostner bit. It cut my thumb nail in half along with gashing the skin, underneath,I was so mad at myself for not taken that extra couple seconds to throw a clamp on,it,hope it gets better for u .Thanks for sharing

Ouch; I hope that heals up OK. In my limited similar experience, it may hurt more in the days to follow...

You could counterbore it & put one of these in for a more finished look:

I did something like that once and almost the same way...put a brand new 3/8" bradpoint bit into the meat of my left hand just under my index finger - the price I paid for being in a hurry and holding the workpiece. It happened so quickly, it didn't hurt right at first...not nearly as much as when I grabbed a shop rag to stop the bleeding and realized that I had recently used it to mop up some spilled gasoline from the mower deck. The guys on Soul Train had nothin' on me given the dance I did at that particular moment in time!

Take all the good advice and get it looked at...at best, it's gonna throb like crazy the next few days.
