I can get a few old growth 2 x 4 studs that came out of a 100+ year old house. Just looking for project suggestions that would really show off the tight growth rings. I don't have a lathe but can otherwise rip them to smaller size, plane, etc. All suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
I once made a butcher block type coffee table with old growth pine boards with 1" cutoffs. I glued them down on a sheet of plywood and it looked great until my then 4 year old son decided to practice tap dancing on it and broke it into a gazillion chunks. 30 years later he still owes me a coffee table.
I have been building cabinets and just couldn't focus on smaller project ideas. I'll trim them and run them through the planer and see how they look cleaned up. The thing that surprised me the most is how heavy they are. I didn't expect it for such dry lumber.
Thanks again.
