Need some advice

I don’t know if it’s maple. It does kinda smell slightly like cedar when I was sanding. Depending on the wood can anyone recommend a stain color or finish for it. Thank you, this is my second project still learning.

Any thoughts or advice on 1st project? Last 3 pictures

It's definitely maple. You probably can't just pick up a stain which matches the dresser with the painters tape on the top of it. I just mixed some stain that color Friday and it took the pigments yellow oxide and red oxide. You could mix artist oil paints together with a little linseed oil and thin it with mineral spirits. Just be sure to try it on some scrap wood or the chest bottom to see how it works before putting it where it shows. Another option would be to take a sample of the color you want with some scrap wood to a paint store and let them mix the stain. They have all the pigments in their machines to custom mix a stain for you.
