Need help mounting door kickstop to metal door

Hi my wife and I just had a baby and we really want to mount a kick stop to our exterior door so its easier to roll in with a stroller.

We live in an apartment and have a heavy, metal exterior door that opens in.

Here is the product we have.

There are already holes drilled into the door, evidence that someone has tried this. See here.

Hopefully this doesn't mean it hasn't worked in the past :/

The current problem is the screws provided don't fit into these holes. The holes are too big. I could get bigger screws but those won't fit into the door stop so that's not an option.

So how can I make these existing holes work? Matchsticks and wood glue? Will that hold in a metal door? We are renters and I really don't want to drill more holes into my landlords door.

Please let me know any ideas how this can be mounted using the existing drilled holes. Thanks!

Drill all the way through and use long Chicago screws to attach the kick down stopper.

Buy some pop rivets the size of the holes.
