There is a probability that it's eucalyptus grandis. A fast growing deciduous tree that has been planted in huge plantations from South America to Africa. Grows quickly, long and straight and is self pruning. It's plentiful and cheap.

After doing some images of this I think this may be it rather than the one I thought it was earlier, but the two are very close and I think I can sigh a sense of relief after kind of having an idea of what it might be and what I know its not.
