Question Material Question - Adirondack Hemlock and Red Spruce Lumber Pro's and Con's

Hi everyone, I was wondering if someone had any knowledge on Adirondack Hemlock and Red Spruce Lumber processed from older growth timber. and could shed some pro's and con's of it. I recently saw someone near me was selling all sorts of sizes at a pretty good price.

I have a rain screen project coming up (rain screen under vinyl siding) So I will be using 1 x 3 x 8's. I was thinking maybe I could use the above mentioned wood. But I wanted to make sure that was possible.

Thanks in advance
