Make Up Vanity

My wife has been hounding me to make her a make up vanity for sometime now but I was putting it off because I didn't believe I had the skill/knowledge to pull it off. After getting her approval of a design I made using sketch up I decided to give it the old college try. Here is my progress:

Used birch plywood with butt joints and some dados.

Built the face frame out of poplar. Took the legs off an old end table we had stuffed in the corner of he spare bedroom.

Installed some drawers. Applied the first coat of primer and will eventually fill all the screw/finish nail holes with joint compound before paint. The empty space between the drawers will have a swivel mirror. Two smaller drawers are going to be jewelry boxes. Also would like to add an outlet so plugging in her stuff is much easier.

Updates to follow!!

Look forward to hearing as much input as possible. Stay safe!!!

Michael

That is looking really great. I really like the curved fronts on the top, it's a very nice decorative touch. What a great idea to use old table legs. Keep the photos coming! I have a similar build on the horizon.

This looks great! I'd like to echo the praise for the curved fronts. I'm looking forward to seeing the final product.

Your success with this means your wife will have a list of projects for you to build.

They were just taped on to show the wife what it could look like. She is unsure if she likes them or not so we will she if they make the cut.

Make Up Vanity

Haven't had much time to work on the vanity this week because the wife wanted me to throw together a bench for a party we are having this weekend. Anyways here some pics of my progress. Hope you enjoy.

STAY SAFE!!!

Installed the knobs that I ordered from Rockler.

Put together a small organizer that will slide back and forth.

Built the frame for the mirror and attached the swivel hardware, also from Rockler.
