Looking for a teacher of sorts in Austin area....

Hello all,

New to the forums here and recently got into woodworking. I have a decent set of tools I have recently acquired and just completed my first major restoration project.

I have my grandfathers old antique desk that my DA brother took years ago and painted black. I spent the past 3 weeks taking it apart down to individual pieces, repairing, stripping, sanding, rebuilding and finishing. It came out gorgeous.

One thing I learned from doing this is that I really do not know the proper methods for using a lot of the tools I do have and the ones I will acquire soon.

If anyone with a good bit of experience is here in the Austin area and wouldn't mind spending some time teaching me the ropes, It would definitely be worth it to me to compensate for the time in work or $.

Anyone can use a table, but I want to learn the proper techniques for not only making all the various cuts it can do, but how to ensure I always maintain 10 digits.

I live in Leander and will gladly travel or host and compensate for fuel and time.

Items I have the most interested in learning ASAP:

Band Saw

I'm still a bit of a novice but you may be able find someone at Fine Woodworkers of Austin club (http://www.finewoodworkersofaustin.org). That is unless there is someone on here. I welcome to help on any question you might have too.

Austin, Texas
