Layering wood together and sealing as one?
I may have to find thicker wood but I would much rather stick with what I have.
But is there a way i can take these two stacked pieces of wood and seal the seams on the sides to make it appear to be just one block? like is there a certain gap filler i can use and sand it down to blend the two pieces together? would Gorilla wood glue work?
wood is laminated all the time.
If you start with two straight boards, do a good job of gluing and sanding after its dried, the seam will be almost invisible.
I would use a wood glue like Elmer's or Franklin's instead of Gorilla glue.
When applying your clamps, you want to clamp evenly and tightly, but don't over-tighten to the point you squeeze all the glue out and lose your bond.
I am actually using screws to hold them together. can I get the same results by simply applying the glue on the outside as shown instead of inside?
It doesn't work as well to laminate wood for exterior use but if your project is interior laminating wood would be fine. I would use a wood glue rather than a polyurethane glue.
