lacewood

Could someone tell me which tree Australian lace wood comes from, I grew up in the Australian timber industry and i do not know this timber by this name.

Cardwellia sublimia (also reported as sublimis) of the family Proteaceae [the same family as South American lacewood], which also has the common name (Australian) silky oak, which is its common designation in most of the world outside the USA. In the USA it is called lacewood or Australian lacewood

Hope this is your answer.

Thank you to everyone who answered my question, in Australia it is commonly called Northern Silky Oak and grows within one hour of where I live. The correct Latin is C. sublimis if the Queensland Department of Forestry got it right.
