jig bar stock

I'm trying to make a crosscut sled for my DeWalt table saw. The plastic bar stock is just a hair too wide. It will not slide easily. I don't have the capability to produce wooden runners. Is aluminum my only option?

Some "hairs" are a little thicker than others. Can you put the piece in a vise and drag a scraper/sharp putty knife down its length? Not sure about sanding plastic, but that may work too.

The worst thing you can do to a piece of wood is
....get blood on it.

Maybe I'm not completely understanding your post, but if you've already got the table saw, why can't you cut your own runners?

Edit: you could always trim a hair off of the plastic stock.
