It's nice work but it's a lot of wasted time if it isn't cut off at or below the ground level and taken indoors away from the weather and insects.

Where it's at the sun will cause the carving to get major cracks in it. The stump will rot and termites will work their way up. A couple years and it will be an eyesore instead of a work of art.

We have a couple of "tree carvings" where we live. One is about 8 or 9 feet tall and carved as a light house. It's been heavily sealed or varnished and is holding up well after nearly 10 years. The other is a near life sized bear sitting in a chair with a fishing rod. It used to have a good sized fish hanging off of the line, but I suspect some punks stole it. It's been left to weather to a gray patina, but you can still see the bear smiling after many years.

Some art is momentary. How long that time might be is variable.

it's neat, I like it.

. . . momentary
a-yup. can you imagine if New England ever succeeds at keeping all the colored leaves on - they're working on it so they can have year round tourism . . .

That's really cool!

"Dreams are stronger than poison and seize more firmly than disease, once captured one can not escape. It's a real curse, but for adventurers who are dedicated to it, body and soul, people without dreams are more frightening than death" (Made in Abyss). The Twenty Seventeen anime of the year, it definitely deserves that award. It's a show you don't expect to throw you off as much as it does. It may be Moe but it's certainly not lighthearted, just the opposite.
