Ipe for countertops

Hi everybody,
I've found a pretty good deal on ipe decking and was wondering if this would be a good wood for a kitchen counter top. Thanks for the help.

I think it would look terrible. And probably make a poor top at that.

as a rule of thumb you want your kitchen countertops to be solid. You dont want any type of gap even minute where nasty stuff would grow. But if you like the way the wood looks then run it thru a drum sander to make all the boars smooth and the same thickness and make sure all have a straight edges, tongue and groove and glue and use countertop clear epoxy to seal it. Now the cutouts for your sink and anything else you want to do before putting on the epoxy so make the cutouts a little bigger.
