So far so good for me - no extra nails - I go over the wood with earth magnets - slide them along the 4 lengths.

Found a few hidden staples, but that's about it.

Since I don't have a planer or jointer, I use my TS to even out the boards edges and then run a quick sanding over the surfaces - right now I'm just making quick 45 cuts for the wall part of the cleats.

But I do like free LOL
