How Attach 4x4 and then 2x6 ?

Good Monday morning ! I am making a very simple arbor. Please see attached picture. I already have four 4x4 posts dug into the ground. Can anyone give me advice as to how I should attach the horizontal 4x4 to the existing 4x4 posts? And, then, how to attach the 2x6 to the 4x4? Thanks so much for any help.

Get some GRK or Timberlok structural screws.

You could also use some Simpson metal brackets/connectors or traditional wood joinery. You can paint the metal connectors to help them look better. Depends on the look and level of effort you are going for.

Here in Florida we call those fancy named Simpson brackets are called hurricane brackets/straps. They work very nicely.

Notching the pieces together and fastening with lag bolts also works. I would also say it would looked better.
