Home Depot Eliminating Jorgensen Clamps?

I was in my nearest Home Depot last weekend and all the Jorgensen clamps were replaced by Irwin. This included the cabinet bar clamps. Not happy about it since it seems like a step down in quality while the price is about the same. Anyone else see this?

they did that a few months ago here and i think home depot must get a kickback from irwin or something because it seems to be their favorite brand on everything not only clamps

I don't know if it's a kick back but just like grocery stores the manufacturers pay for the better and best shelf space and or give better pricing if they or the inclusive brand.

Some mfgs. also give a end of year rebate that is based on the companies yearly purchases. For a company with as many outlets that HD has that could be a very tidy sum indeed!

I was wondering about that. A few weeks ago I was at my local HD. They some Jorgensen 12" clamps in their clearance section. $5.00 a price. Did not have extra money at the time to purchase what was there. Went back a few days later and they were gone.

Though in the clamp section they still did have a decent supply of other sized Jorgensen.

Joregenson clamps are nice but I have to disagree with you all. Irwin makes a hell of a good clamp and I would rate them as the same as the Joregenson clamps and sometimes they are cheaper (all depends on where you find them). We own both brands and can't say one is better than the other.

I'm not sure Home Depot Canada ever carried Jorgensen clamps. All the ones I have bought over the last few years have been Irwin. They are OK.

Cheers,
Roger

I was checking out the Irwin's the other day. They seem to have a bigger handle with rubber on it to give you a good grip. The quality seems to be on par with Jorgensen, although I didn't examine them that closely.

What's the Country Of Origin for Jorgensen bar clamps?

I believe they are made in America. I bought 2-24 inch, 2-36 inch, and 2-48 inch of their parallel clamps at Menards a few weeks ago for around $150. I should have bought more.

I have Jorgenson, Irwin, Bessy, and some other brands of clamps. The Jorgenson clamps outperform the other brands in real work situations by a large margin. I find the Irwin clamps to be so poorly designed as to be very frustrating to use. Bessy has taken something as simple as a clamp and over-designed it and if a little glue gets on them they don't work properly.
The people at Jorgenson know that we don't always get the glue off our clamps and designed them to work well despite that. Jorgensen clamps just adjust faster and tighten better

Just my opinion, Bret

anybody willing to trade their Jorg's for my Irwin's? didn't think so

They prolly didn't sell enough and figured the Irwin price point will let them move more product.

Jorgies are not the go to clamp for most folks. I find them overpriced and don't see any up side to them and won't buy them.

Hey~!!! It's a hobby~!! It's not supposed to make sense.

I seen that my Home Depot just did this about a month ago. I like the Jorgenson clamps better. Just my opinion though.

I was in HD today, but didn't notice. I wonder if they are going to be on clearance. I guess I'll have to stop by tomorrow.

I gotta have that clutch mechanism on the bar like Jorgensen has. Some bar
clamps like the Bessey's don't have that and they don't feel right because of it.

Here is one of the f-style clamps from the same Home Depot. "Made in the USA"

How about the Irwin's?

Most Irwin clamps that I have picked up were made in China.
