Hinge for drop-down bar?

Folks - I'd like to build a bar with a drop down front door that becomes a shelf. My question: I know there are flap-hinges that lay flat, but how is the door and hinge positioned so that when the door is in the closed, upright position, there isn't a large gap between the door and whatever is beneath? This piece from West Elm is similar to what I want to do - how do they get such a clean look when closed yet keep the door laying horizontal when open.

Thanks in advance.

We have an introduction section where you can say a few words about yourself. If you fill out your profile in your "User Control Panel", you can list any hobbies, experience, occupation, or if retiredÖfrom what, or other facts. You can also list your general geographical location which would be a help in answering some questions. In doing that your location will show under your username when you post.

This flap hinge allows a lay flat when open and positions the bottom edge of the door with the bottom of the cabinet opening when closed.
