Help needed from all the thinkers out there

Greetings,

I noticed that some of you members are great thinkers when it comes to seeing something other than a piece of wood.

I have 15 slats (I guess you would call them) that measure 26 1/2 Long x 7/8 Wide x 7/16 Thick.

I also have 15 at 28 1/8 x 1 1/2 x 7/16.

Can someone suggest a project for them?

I have added two pics labeled Large and small slats.

Thanks,

Gary

After thinking long and hard about this I've come to the conclusion you should turn them into sticks.
JBrianBaker likes this.

I figured it's time to change my signature so hold your breath. This is it.
Impressive, huh?

Mix it with some Walnut and make cutting boards. Or just plain like they are. You didn't say what kind of wood these sticks are so if they are Pine or another softwood then the cutting boards won't last long but they're fun to make. Either end grain or long/edge grain will work.

You could make spice racks for the kitchen.

Small, thin pieces like those, I keep to use for little projects that come up.

If you have a lathe you could turn a whole lot of small gifts and such. Small rings, tops, honey dippers other assorted things... What were they originally?

God I love Trigger. Inferno Cop is exactly the sort of idiocy they do, It's what makes them so cool. Met them all, great guys.

They are soft wood. I don't know how to make a cutting board but it might be something to try.

I have a metal lathe but no wood lathe. They were from a baby bed.

I'm not sure. They were from a baby bed. I don't know how to tell the different wood types other that they are soft. Or the tenons are any way.

Dog or pet gates to span walkways from room to room or on your deck. The sticks you have would be the stiles. All you need is the rales. If you mortise the stiles to the rales you'll get a nice project. Tom
