I built a subwoofer several years ago and am now building another identical one for the other side of the room. I have the structure mostly finished and am getting ready to order veneer. Only problem is I can't remember what I used previously and am having problems figuring out what it is. Can anyone with a keen eye help me out? It is likely a simple wood like fir or possibly mahogany. I did stain it and then put a semi-gloss on it so matching the color up will be my next step after figuring out what species to get. In any case, here are some pics of the wood I'm trying to copy - first two from 2-3 feet away, second two from fairly close. Thanks for any help!
if you wanted an exact match, is it feasible to re-veneer
the first one with the same veneer as the new one ?
I suppose that is an option - but I'd prefer to not add the extra time and expense to rip off the existing veneer and re-veneer the old ones.. If I can get the right species then I can take my time trying to match the stain to get it close enough. I may be able to find the company and date I purchased the original veneer from (in 2010) so maybe I'll give them a call to see if they by chance have any records going that far back.
edit: I should add that the first two pictures represent the color better. The second two pictures appear darker than it really is.
