Gluing leather to wood

Did a search and found an old thread from George, gluing leather to leather. Contact adhesive was suggested.

I have to glue leather to wood, approximately one square foot of leather hide (underside) onto a ply drawer base.

Appreciate advice from someone who has done this before.

I have done that. An antique desk sits in my entry way with a leather center glued to it with contact cement. It has been there for many years. The leather was salvaged from an old recliner and dyed first.

OK, It wasn't leather but rather Naugahyde. I used Titebond. Just plain old yellow glue. I did use spring clamps where I had to go around edges. Works for felt on the inside of drawers too.

Use the right tool for the job.

I used 3M high-strength 90 spray adhesive to firmly attach the oversized leather piece to the wood processing project, and then shaped it to fit. In addition, I also saw contact cement, white glue. Hyde glue, yellow glue, TiteBond III, etc. were also recommended.
