Thumbs down first trip to Rockler

This Montana boy just made his first trip/trips to Rockler. We are in Portland visiting our boys and they have a Rockler store in Beaverton so I made the trip to the store. Then I went another day and then I went today! I was like a little kid in a toy store. I found all sorts of stuff to buy. The first trip I stayed to small items, but by today I bought a dovetail jig. Wow, spent several hundred dollars. Don't want to add up all the sales slips, but got pretty cool stuff. Won't be back for a year, so spent a lot now!

Rockler has a lot of nice stuff but I think they are overpriced. If your patient you could probably get the same stuff online and have it delivered to your house cheaper.

Most specialty woodworking stores do have items that are sometimes higher in cost than the same item listed in their catalog. It is IMO best to see, feel, and perhaps get to watch a live demo of the "needed item" before buying. Comparing $ and performance of competitive brands also helps in making a wise choice. Be safe.
