This is a knockoff of the Nils Frederking F2 table. Can anyone draw or describe what the hardware that connects the 3 leg’s inner vertical members (at two different height levels) looks like?
It allows the legs to by adjacent or at 180 degree angles to one another, or something in between.
If the hinges open to 120 degrees from the center leg that would do it. If there are "stays" on the top at the 120 degree position that would hold them in place. Wise-ash comment.... for $165.00 you could find out. ... free shipping with Prime!
Thanks woodnthings. Funny, as an Amazon Prime member I did purchase the table today. Worse case scenario is it will find use in my daughter's now single college room as a place for guests to study with her at, to then tuck away against a wall and save space when not in use; her personal desk not conducive to guests.
I'm thinking the same way about the hinges as you described and am telling myself that double acting hinges, like those on some shutters, with their 3 sections and 2 hinges may be the off the shelf hardware that at least in principle, if correctly sized, might work here. (Yes, I did make the table as a discovery build and this is the last step I have to complete it.)
Are you thinking in a similar fashion? What you described seems to fit what a double hinged piece of hardware can do.
Possibly a single action hinge that will swing 120 degrees?
Each outside panel swings from the center leg and there's no need for anything more sophisticated. You'll find out when you receive your table and please report back how it works in that case. I've visualized it and drawn a sketch and it works as far as I can tell. You and Rick are way more analytical than I, and I respect that from the expanding table thread. I've been an admirer of Rick every since I discovered his website and I've posted links from there on this site many a time. A very knowledgeable fellow he is! :smile2:
They will necessitate that I redo the table's legs from their current 1/2" commercial threaded pipe to more rectangular wood but hey, in my book "all builds are discovery builds!"
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
