Evolution of Mission style furniture
I have question about the evolution of the Stickley/Craftsman/Mission style furniture. I have read a little about the Stickley brothers and the evolution of their style from the early 1900's into the teens. I have several books which show either photos or drawing or many pieces of their furniture.
I also own a small table that I bought nearly 50 years ago at a garage sale while attending college. It is mission style but has a support trim under the front apron which is a graceful curve. I have not seen this in any of the Stickley images and I am wondering if anyone knows when this style began to appear in common usage.
Attached are a couple of photos.
