Delta 22-580

I have a chance to purchase a used Delta 22-580 benchtop planer for $150. Not completely sure on the condition, I would have to take a look when I go see the seller. Does this sound like a fair deal? I know parts may be hard to come by, I see blades on Amazon. Thoughts? Seller included a few 3/4" pipe clamps as well because I didn't want to spend quite as much originally. Mainly this would be for my smaller planing projects, as my dad has a large grizzly floor model planer that I use when planing down rough cut lumber and longer pieces. Thanks for any advice anyone can give me!

You have some experience .....

At least you have some experience using a planer and may know what to look for after running a few scraps through, before you buy.

You can examine the wood look for a thickness difference from side to side, snipe, etc.
You can listen to the machine as it's planing for unusual noises, vibrations etc.

I would ask the seller for his reason for selling... unless of course there is a big shiny new planer sitting next to it. The price seems like he's dumping it...? I never sell any of my "unused" tools, so don't go by what I say...... just sayin'

The answer to your question will only be as detailed and specific as the question is detailed and specific. Good questions also include a sketch or a photo that illustrates your issue. (:< D)

I have a Delta 22-560 planer. I sure wouldn't buy another Delta planer. Ever since I've had it I've been having trouble with it falling apart. I finally bought some threadlock to get some peace. Then the feed rollers tend to raise up and stay up not putting any pressure on the wood. I frequently have to take it apart and clean and lube the mechanism. Then the last straw I noticed the last time I had it apart the gears operating the feed rollers I had a tooth broken off two of the gears.
