complementing woods

anybody into decorative or keepsake box building. I got the bug about a month ago when a lady asked me to build a box she could keep her dogs ashes in (on the mantle in her living room). She was happy with the box, I was happy with the $40.00. It had been years since I had built a small box and I had forgotten how much I enjoyed the build. In the past couple of weeks I've built about 1/2 dozen others and enjoy the beauty of mating different and contrasting woods and therein lies my other question. What woods would you put together (exotic or domestic) to make a really special or one of a kind box?

If you have some scraps laying around, and want to help out a good cause, check this out :

It is an organization that helped a fellow woodworking brother thru a very tough time recently, and given your renewed liking to make keepsake boxes, I thought this might be a good fit.

Just a thought.

OH yeah, +1 on what brink said..... I also like wenge and maple

I used to be fairly indecisive, but now....... I'm not so sure.
