Christmas Eve.

Well, it is Christmas Eve, has everyone got their gifts finished? I didn't make gifts this year, but I did in the past. Once I didn't get them done and mailed on time. I wish all my woodworking friends here and their families a very Merry Christmas.

mine was passing down a family heirloom

This was a rifle I inherited from an step uncle who passed away, but I don't know where he acquired it. He had traveled to Nicaragura frequently, maybe Honduras also. It's a Remington Rolling Block Military about .30 cal maybe smaller? It was time to pass it along to my son who had expressed an interest in it. It's a cool wall hanger, not a safe thing to fire, so I made a rustic looking plaque from circle sawn Pine plank with a few knots. I made the 4 bevels and a block that's a force fit for the trigger guard. The finish, if any, is yet to be determined by the recipient.

The answer to your question will only be as detailed and specific as the question is detailed and specific. Good questions also include a sketch or a photo that illustrates your issue. (:< D)

It's called ColorWood, it's laminated ply's of different colors. I've had the blank on my shelf for about 15 years and finally decided to make something of it.

Great looking rolling pin. I bet you could make and sell a lot of those.
