Birdseye Maple

Greetings,

I have about 4' of Birdseye Maple (7.25" x 7'). I was wondering what would be a nice little project to use this wood on? I was thinks about a couple of small boxes or maybe a couple picture frames. You all have a LOT more experience in woodworking than I do, and some of you have some pretty creative minds, unlike me. :)

Thanks,

Gary

I like the bandsaw boxes.

And this little box was a fun project.

NewBi, that should be a great piece of wood. Let us know what you make with it.
Ron_J, those are real cute. Bet they had you hopping! My benchtop bandsaw has a very limited cutting height.

I don't knot know how to make the bandsaw boxes but your sure do look nice.

I really like the other little box you have there. Is that a box joint? What does one do just cut the maple a little smaller than the top and glue it on?

Thanks for sharing.

Gary

The bandsaw boxes look harder than they are. Take a quick look on youtube and you will get the idea.

The trinket box is from the woodsmith show. I think you can get the plans for it free. The corners are a simple box joint. It is a nice project that allows you to use a lot of different skills and techniques.

Looks like you have to buy the actual plans, although you can see an image that is pretty clear.
