Best way to surface Oak flooring to boards

What is the best way to get the hardwood flooring into boards for small projects? I have a couple hundred feet of 3/4 by 4" red oak flooring. It is unfinished and ready to go.

My question, what is the best way to cut the tongue and groove off, as well as the grooves on bottom? Resaw on bandsaw or is it best to plane it off?

Thoughts?

I once did it by sawing off the tongue and groove on the table saw, then planed the grooves off the bottom. Unless you plan to resaw to smaller thicknesses anyway, I found it hard to keep the bandsaw tracking to remove just the grooves. You may want to plane a little bit off the top just to equalize the release of moisture so the board doesn't bow.

I would cut the tongue and groove off on a table saw and then surface it on the back side with a planer. If you need it actually S4S you might run 3 or 4 boards at a time through a planer edgewise to clean up the saw marks.

Depending on the age and condition of the oak planning could be a bad idea. The pores in oak flooring can hold all kinds of dirt and debris that will dull planer blades in a heartbeat.

Is it new flooring. I would rip the tongue and grove off, with a table saw. Then use a planer to remove the groves on the bottom. Unless you need a bunch of 3 1/4 inch wide oak I would glue it up in 12 inch wide panels. It will be about 1/2 inch thick after you do that, it may not be worth the trouble.

It is unused and unfinished. I've been having a blast with this stuff all weekend now. I rip the tongue and groove off, the plane like you guys said. I'm left with about 5/8, or 9/16 or so... awesome for me to practice with joinery or other small projects... making mallets, boxes... fun fun.

Thanks for yalls help.

Nice box. A little sanding wouldn't hurt it.
