Another Custom Knife Block

Hi Everyone
Had a new client call me last week inquiring about my custom knife block that was seen on CustomMade.com and wanted to know if I was interested in designing one for him. Sure!!! He sent me the scaled template of what he wanted to include and chose Walnut and Cherry for the woods. I added the bookmatched walnut on the base to give it a little artistic flair. The slots for the knives were cut out on the scroll saw. Finished with 5 coats of wipe-on satin poly. Fun project

Where the heck are the knives????

Very nice looking knife block, I like the way you made the front "eye" look.

Well done...well done.

I agree. That "eye" was the first thing to catch me eye.

Hey Mike. I haven't seen you post in so long, that I thought you had left us. Glad to see that you are still woodworking and still posting. This knife block is awesome. It definitely is gorgeous and just screams class. Nice work.

Thanks for the comments guys
To Kenbo--I'm still here, just been real busy trying to catch up on stuff after my heart attack in March. Everything is fine now. Been doing lots of small custom stuff and haven't had lots of time to keep up with what's happening on the forums. Can't wait to get back to creating some new intarsia. Thanks

Just stumbled across custommade.com and thought it was pretty interesting. Searched here to see if anyone is using it and found your knife blocks which look great. Have you had any more luck with the site? Anyone else using it and having success?

Wd, what/how do you do for the interior? I've been having a devil of a time making a knife block out of laminated layers.

That bowl was perfect right up until that last cut...
